This view of the battlefield of Salamanca was taken from the western end of the summit of the Greater Arapile in October 2002. As the panorama opens, the village of Arapiles can be seen at the far left. The ground between the village and the Greater Arapile saw some of the most intense fighting. Further to the right stands the Lesser Arapile. The monument to the battle can clearly be seen further along the ridge of the Greater Arapile, before the view moves south.
